Ponte Vecchio Florence

$800.00
Sold Out

This work was made from inside the Uffizzi Gallery overlooking Florence’s most famous bridge - Ponte Vecchio

Ponte Vecchio became closely tied to the Medici in the 16th century when Duke Cosimo I commissioned the Vasari Corridor, a secret passage connecting the Uffizi and Pitti Palaces, running over the bridge. To suit the corridor’s prestige, the Medici removed the original butcher shops and replaced them with goldsmiths, eliminating odors and elevating the bridge’s status. This transformation reflected the Medici’s power and aesthetic influence, turning Ponte Vecchio into both a symbol of luxury and a practical route for the ruling family. This was the first day of my expo ration in Florence .
