The Liberty Flame was part of the original Statue of Liberty donated to the United States by the French after 1788.

This torch was severely damaged during a storm in 1986 and replaced with the current torch. It is housed on Liberty island alongside the original face for lady liberty in a Museum which overlooks Manhattan.
