Cape Schanck - in harmony with nature.

$5,000.00

Cape Schanck on the Mornington Peninsula offers dramatic coastal scenery, rugged cliffs, and sweeping ocean views. Famous for its historic lighthouse, walking trails, and wild beaches, it attracts nature lovers and photographers alike. Visitors enjoy peaceful surroundings, fresh sea air, and breathtaking sunsets along Victoria’s beautiful southern coastline.

This artwork was created from a drawing made on location at Cape Schanck while touring Phillip Bay and the Mornington Peninsula. The young child I spent many camping trips at this location, and it holds special significance to me because when I look up on the water, it extends all the way to Tasmania and Antarctica, which as a young child was a fascinating concept, and I hoped that I might see a glimpse of these locations if I stared really hard at the horizon. It is a mesmerising location and at the right time of the day can be very peaceful.

I've used the opposing colours of ultramarine in the sky and yellow oxide for parts of the strawberry to create a harmonious balance. The elements contained within this piece of sea and sky, which is an extension of my feeling surrounding this location being past, present, and future.
